The music interval is a gap (distance) between two notes (pitches).
Interval recognition is base to play by ear and read (hear in the head) notes without using any instrument.
Many people (likely almost all(!)) with some practice can recognize and predict the intervals.
This app draws music intervals to guess.
The intervals can be measured in semitones and you do not have to learn official names to be quite good player.
Below there is the picture for guitar, where note "C" is signed as "0".
But to be professional, you should also know official names of intervals.

The intervals.fun application let you train your ear in classic way, when a teacher draws interval and you have to guess it.
One way to remember permanently intervals is find your favorite melodies start with those intervals. Some examples you can find in "REFERENCE SONGS" section.
Second way which can help you is use your the closest instrument which one is your own voice. In this way muscle memory is your ally. You do not have to sing loudly. You can just only purr.
You also should to know, you have to be patient. To learn permanently intervals, you likely need at least a few weeks.
The classic way is different than functional ear training. Which method is better? Both have their advantages. Which one choose now? Simply depends on your current needs. You will be able to recognize your needs when you familiarize with both methods.
